What is missing video
costing your catalogue?

Most catalogues know their video coverage is incomplete. Almost none have put a number on it. This does, from three figures you already have, with the arithmetic shown.

A listing without video converts measurably worse than the same listing with one. Amazon reports video on a product detail page lifting conversion by around 9 percent relative, and Sponsored Products campaigns carrying video showing 67 percent higher click-through. Applied to the share of your catalogue that has no video, that gap becomes a number in euros or dollars per year. The calculator below does that arithmetic and lets you set the uplift yourself.

Your catalogue

The default of 9 percent is Amazon’s own reported conversion lift for detail pages carrying video. Move it if your category behaves differently. Nothing you type here leaves your browser unless you send it.

At stake, per year

Listings with no video--
Revenue exposed each month--
Recovered each month at that uplift--
Videos needed to close the gap--
Months to close at 20 videos a month--

The arithmetic, in full

There is no hidden model. Four lines:

  1. Listings with no video = SKUs x (1 minus your video coverage).
  2. Revenue exposed = monthly revenue x (1 minus your video coverage). This assumes revenue is spread evenly across SKUs. It rarely is, which is the main reason to treat the output as an order of magnitude and not a forecast.
  3. Recovered per month = revenue exposed x the uplift you set, expressed as a share of current conversion.
  4. Per year = that figure, times twelve.

What the number is worth, and what it is not

It is a sizing tool. It tells you whether the gap in your catalogue is a rounding error or a line item, which is usually the only question that matters before anyone spends a week on it. It is not a forecast, for three reasons you should hold on to.

Revenue is not spread evenly. In most catalogues a handful of SKUs carry the majority of sales. If your top sellers already have video and the gap sits in the tail, the real figure is well below the estimate. If the reverse is true, it is well above. The fix is to run the count weighted by revenue, which is what we do on the real scan.

Uplift varies by category and by price. Video does most work where the buyer cannot judge the product from a photograph: texture, scale, mechanism, how something is used. It does least where the product is a commodity the buyer already knows. A supplement powder at high unit price behaves nothing like a cable at low unit price.

A bad video moves nothing. The uplift figures published by platforms describe video that meets specification and answers a buying question. A silent, badly lit clip of a rotating box is not a smaller version of that effect, it is no effect.

Where the figures come from

  • Conversion lift on detail pages carrying video, and 67 percent higher click-through on Sponsored Products carrying video: Amazon Ads internal reporting, United States, 2026, and Amazon Science with the Journal of Marketing Analytics, 2023.
  • Video coverage as a ranking and conversion input on the product detail page: Amazon Seller Central listing quality documentation.

Then what

If the number is large enough to act on, the constraint is almost never the decision. It is production capacity: nobody has the crew, the samples and the studio days to shoot two hundred listings. That is the problem this studio exists to remove. See Vidéo Amazon for what ships, or today’s service for what it looks like.
