The hidden cost in the cheap option
A $40 generated clip is not a $40 ad. Someone has to write the hook, direct the output, reject the bad renders, fix the caption timing, resize for three platforms and check that the label on the pack is legible. At an internal cost of $60 an hour, three hours of that work turns a $40 clip into a $220 ad - and it is your team's three hours, not a supplier's.
The hidden cost in the expensive option
A creator shoot buys one asset. Paid social burns through creative on a cycle measured in weeks. The real question is not the price of one video but the cost of running a testing cadence for a year, which is where per-asset pricing gets brutal.
How to budget it
Work backwards from testing cadence, not from asset price. If your account needs fifteen distinct creatives a month to stay ahead of fatigue, the monthly production budget is the number that matters. Fifteen creator assets is $12,000-$37,500 a month. Fifteen assets from a managed studio is a fraction of that, and it is quoted as one monthly figure rather than fifteen invoices.
