Aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between a video's width and height. Ecommerce advertising uses three: 9:16 for vertical placements (Reels, Stories, TikTok), 1:1 for feed, and 16:9 for horizontal placements including all Amazon video except gallery video.
In practice
Resizing and re-framing are different operations. A 9:16 film cropped to 16:9 loses whatever sat at the top and bottom of the frame, which is usually the product or the caption. Producing natively in each ratio, rather than cropping one master, is the difference between three assets and one asset shown badly three times.
